Restaurant Prep Cook

At The Radical are some of Asheville's newest, exciting culinary concepts including Golden Hour, a concept by acclaimed restauranteur, Jacob Sessoms. We also have Afterglow, a daytime cafe that transitions to a nighttime lounge featuring a floating DJ booth above the bar! We also can't forget The Roof! Where Asheville's most incredible sunsets take place among fire pits, lounge furniture, and nightly entertainment. We are seeking experienced Prep Cooks to join us who are passionate about providing our clients with an exceptional dining experience. We are seeking a food prep worker who knows their way around a kitchen with minimal supervision. You’ll be responsible for stocking, preparing, and measuring condiments and slicing, dicing, and mixing foods for cooking. You’ll need to follow all safety protocols in the kitchen, and keep your workstation clean and equipment sanitized for the duration of your shift. You must be able to read recipe directions and labels in English and operate a variety of kitchen equipment, including sharp knives and measuring tools. Some lifting, pulling, and bending are required. Some kitchen experience and a 2-year associate's degree are preferred but not required. If this sounds like a fit for you, we’d love to meet.

• Perform other basic cooking duties as necessary, such as brewing coffee or tea, preparing soups, reducing sauces, and assisting other cooks in the kitchen if needed
• Abide by food safety guidelines and implement COVID-19 safety measures in all food prep areas and stations where food is prepared and kitchen equipment is used
• Maintain a clean, organized prep area and workstation at all times, and sanitize equipment after each shift or when we close
• Wash, sort, prep, slice, and measure ingredients for recipes, using condiments, vegetables, and proteins, and mixing sauces for use in various meals
• Understand recipe instructions, measurements, meal charts, and labels written in English and use all measuring tools properly

• Able to read recipes, meal charts, and labels and understand directions in English
• Must be comfortable handling sharp knives and other kitchen tools when prepping food
• We’d like you to have some kitchen experience and associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent, but it’s not necessary
• Ability to work weekends, nights, and holidays and be willing to pitch in working extra hours at the supervisor’s request
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, as well as bend, pull heavy items, and stand on your feet for your entire shift

The Radical is opened in the River Arts District, and we're looking to add to our great team of hospitality professionals! Along with our hotel, we have bars, restaurants, and a cafe. An elevated wood fire grill restaurant Golden Hour, the sunset view The Roof bar with DJs and events, and Afterglow serving coffee and pastries during the day and cocktails and light bites into the night.

The Radical is a new concept in an old factory building, aiming to breathe new life into the area and be part of a balance between new development and historic roots.
