Qualifications (education, professional certifications or licenses, experience, proficiencies)
  • New York State LCSW required.
  • Proficiency in English required.
  • Proficiency in modern business communications including personal computers, electronic mail, voicemail, facsimile, and copier equipment.
  • Familiarity with CARES and PSYCKES (or similar databases) preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct services to clients that focus on assessment, submitting SPOA applications, and the writing of comprehensive psychiatric evaluations that lead to successful 2010e housing applications.
  • Obtain 9.58 credential to conduct involuntary mental health removals and serve as the agency coordinator for the BronxWorks mobile crisis team.
  • Direct services will also include engagement, assessment of client psychosocial summaries, advocacy, therapeutic counseling, reassessment, and exit summaries.
  • Document all interactions with, or on behalf of, clients.
  • Maintain familiarity with program resources available on- and off-site.
  • Coordinate client services in collaboration with case management staff, including mental health, medical, employment, educational, childcare, and other social service providers.
  • Conduct regular case conferences with clients and service providers as required.
  • Act as a program contact person for inquiries concerning clients (as assigned).
  • Report to and meet with supervisor on a regular basis.
  • Provide statistical data as it pertains to services provided.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Program Specific Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical supervision to select agency licensed social workers so that they can obtain the clinical hours needed to become licensed clinical social workers.
  • Assist with the completion of HRA housing applications for clients.
  • Document client interactions and complete other service-related documentation in program databases (including AWARDS and CARES) in a manner consistent with DHS and/or internal procedures.
  • Work additional hours and shifts as needed (evening and/or weekend hours may be required).
  • Perform on-call duties (as assigned).

Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb five flights of stairs.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather.
