Murray County is taking applications for full-time Assessor. Hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This is a full-time position working in our office in Slayton, MN. This position works to provide a fair and equitable assessment of all real and personal property in the County and serve as a representative for the Assessor’s office. In this position you’ll perform valuation and classification of property for tax assessment purposes to include, performing field inspections, maintaining accurate information in a mass appraisal system, analyzing real estate sales, applying accurate methods to the valuation process, responding to taxpayer’s concerns, resolving formal and informal appeals, and testifying at local and county boards of review.

Job title and salary range depend on experience and level of Minnesota Assessor licensure. Advanced certification or experience in assessing will have priority consideration.

Assessing Technician (Entry Level) $19.90 - $25.87

Deputy Assessor (CMA license) $25.12 - $32.66

Deputy Assessor (AMA license) $26.63 - $34.62

Qualifications: Minimum of a High School diploma/GED and two years relevant work experience. Valid MN driver’s license. Must have excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office. Effective communication and customer service skills. Mathematical skills and ability to read legal descriptions required.

This is a progressive position, and incumbent is expected to obtain the Certified Minnesota Assessor (CMA) licensure within two years of hire. Deputy Assessor CMA must obtain and maintain an AMA license, within two years of obtaining CMA license, along with continuing education credits and stay abreast of changes in appraisal methods, regulations, and formulas, building costs, market values and similar developments.
