Duties & Responsibilities

  • Facilitate summer day camp curriculum and related activities with youth, including, but not limited to social skills education, new games, arts and crafts, and life skills.
  • Develop and deliver enhancement activities, as appropriate, to meet needs of youth and group.
  • Assist Eckerd in maintaining culturally sensitive service delivery practices.
  • Participate in in-service and other training as required.
  • Adhere to federal and state laws on confidentiality.
  • Adhere to safe practices and ensure safe practices by youth in care.
  • Adhere to Eckerd philosophy in caring for youth.
  • Report any acts, incidents, or conditions that reflect the possibility of inappropriate youth to youth or staff to youth relationships.
  • Report any use of physical force and all unusual incidents per Eckerd guidelines.
  • Maintain required certification.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Course work in recreation and/or counseling a plus.
  • One year working with youth in related activities. Experience in any direct human service helping role useful. Experience working with families in supportive and developmental capacity a plus.
  • Organizational, communication (verbal, written, listening), teaching, motivation and creativity, child development, counseling, activity planning implementation and evaluation.
  • Ability to actively participate with youth in recreational activities.

About our Program:

Eckerd Connects’ School based prevention services in Citrus County provide prevention education to students through a Universal Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) model called Hi-Five. Hi-Five is a multicomponent program that combines school-based prevention and intervention practices specifically designed to promote young people’s SEL. Lessons are taught using a sequences step-by-step learning approach, using active forms of learning, focusing on sufficient time on skill development and have explicit learning goals. Hi-Five Clubs provides students with opportunities to contribute to their school and community and experience the satisfaction, sense of belonging and enhanced motivation that comes from such involvement.
