Job Description
Position Summary Under the direction of the Reaction Supervisor, the Material Handler (A) main task is to:
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Must ensure that truck/railcar is positioned and secured properly at the loading area and checks for last product contained.
• Must visually inspect the truck/railcar before transfer to ensure that it is mechanically sound and has no defective equipment.
• Must wear all protective clothing and equipment, including respirator and fresh air equipment that may be required to transfer the product in a manner that ensures maximum personal safety.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of how to scale in/out
• Must be able to connect hoses and transfers according to procedures using gauges and/or strapping tables.
• Must be able to check weight before and after product transfer and ensures that outages or innages do not exceed Department of Transportation (DOT) certification for the vessel being loaded.
• Must be able to monitor temperatures and pressures and relay the information back to the Reaction Operator
• Must have complete understanding of the lock-out/tag-out procedures
• Must communicate with site leader/supervisor on any problems as they occur.
• Must disconnects loading hose, inspect for any leaks and complete required paperwork prior to releasing the truck/railcar.
• Coordinate any tank truck movement with Reaction Planner and prepare for their arrival/departure
• Work with Reaction Planner to schedule filtration to complete customer orders and schedule shipments.
• Review blend sheets from lab for accuracy before initiation/completion
• Must have complete knowledge of all ISO Blending Procedures and TCT’s safety rules
• Must be able to drive Forklift and Yard Mule safely and effectively.
• Perform plant cleanup standards tasks during and at the end of an operation or workday
• Completes any other duties that may be assigned to complete the job.
Knowledge and Skills:
• High School Graduate or GED desired but not required.
Work Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years of blending experience/ or previously hired as Material Handler (B) in the Reaction Department.
Skills and Competencies:
• Have general knowledge of plant safety rules
• Must have basic computer skills (work/excel)
• Must be respirator trained and certified
• Must be forklift certified • Be ready and willing to receive standard training
• Must be able to read and interpret an MSDS, also know the location of the MSDS book
• Be able to follow the Hurricane and flood procedures if needed.
• Must be able to read and process an order in an adequate time period
• Knowledge of our quality policy and objectives
• Must understand Nitrogen blanketing, purging and drying process.
• Must understand sampling procedure (railcar, truck and tank)
• Learn basic product identification
• Proper hose section, cleaning and storage
• Must understand the dry air system
• Must be able to apply steam to railcars, trucks, tanks and pumps in a safe manner.
• Must be able to accurately gauge any tank, railcar or truck, and be able to interpret the automated gauging system
• Must be able to load and/or unload any railcar or truck and covert lbs./gallons to determine load capacity
• Must have complete understanding of the filtering system
• Must be able to fill any tote, pail or drum ordered from the Production run
• Tank, tank truck and tank car transloading
• Must be able to follow all procedures when handling “food Grade” products Physical Requirements
• While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to use their hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
• The team member frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
• The team member is occasionally required to sit.
• The team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift 25 pounds and occasionally move or manipulate drums weighing between 200-400 pounds.
