Description

Ensure that all company financial obligations are met and documented. Provide financial and production data necessary for managerial decision-making. Supervise accounting staff and monitor department spending. Assist in creating and monitoring department budget as well as cash flow analysis. Provide monthly financial reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles to parent company for consolidation purposes.

 

Duties and responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department.

• Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements:

• Provide technical accounting advice and ensure that the entity’s financial statements are properly stated under the current accounting principles and tax laws.

• Plan, organize and implement new accounting principles.

• Supervise and review the work of the accounting staff currently preparing all journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and overall preparation of all accounting records.

• Perform month end reconciliation reports for all asset and liability accounts.

• Review cash requirements on a weekly basis and prepared annual cash flow budgeting requirements.

• Reconcile bank account daily basis.

• Report overdue AR to sales and CEO and work with sales personnel and CEO to resolve issues with A/R collections.

• Enter and pay international bills (wires)

• Develop, implement, and monitor accounting controls over cash disbursements, cash receipts, payroll disbursements, and inventory controls from an accounting basis. Monitor annual fixed asset physical verification.

• Implement accounting controls over ABS inventory control system and develop inventory cost accounting and inventory obsolescence policy. Ensure new policies are implemented and properly monitored.

• Review various tax returns for United Genetics Seeds Company and United Genetics Holdings LLC and respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies and tax authorities (i.e. Federal and State Income/Franchise tax, State of California Sales and Use tax returns, Business tax returns, San Benito County, Kern county, and Imperial County personal and real property tax returns, and Department of commerce filings.)

• Mandatory reports to Bureau of Economic Analysis.

• Compile department and Company annual budget information for CEO and department heads for their preparation of budget.

• Prepare 1099’s and 1096

• Coordinate and oversee annual reviews and audits by the independent audit firm.

• Partner with human resources to review and reconcile payroll and Simple IRA administration. Assists with health and welfare benefit plan development, implementation, and administration.

• Attend United Genetics Seeds Company management meetings, United Genetics Holdings LLC management Meetings and United Genetics Holdings LLC board of directors meetings.

• Perform other duties and projects as requested by the Board of directors and other corporate officers.

 

Requirements

Educational Level and Focus: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business, with CPA preferred. Proven experience as Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor or Finance Manager, A minimum of 5 years in tax, audit and supervisory experience required.

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Good communication skills to be able to interact with a broad spectrum of internal and external contacts.
  • Be able to present American accounting and legal concepts, listen to the ideas and concepts of management, maintain internal and external business relationships, and demonstrate team work and cooperation.
  • Must be able to apply advanced principles of business, accounting, personnel and finance to the duties of the job.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, analyze and provide written and verbal feedback to senior management.
  • Good grammar, spelling and organization are necessary.
  • Basic word processing skills and advanced spreadsheet skills are required.
  • Must be able to manage a variety of projects to successful completion simultaneously.
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented.

Physical Demands: Office demands include frequent speaking, both in person and by telephone, writing, reading, writing reports and computer screens, operating a computer keyboard and calculator and occasionally light lifting of paperwork and other small office products up to 25 lbs. occasionally travel may be required. May sit in front of the computer for approx. 8+ hours.
