Electrical Estimator

Dynamic, highly reputable, well-respected electrical contractor servicing commercial, industrial and residential clientele has an opportunity for you to contribute to the strategic operational development of the organization. We have experienced unprecedented growth as we continue to service our customers in the area. Our reputation is built on quality, personalized service, and attention to detail.

Reporting to the general manager, the electrical estimator will review bid opportunities for feasibility, while preparing estimates and proposals proactively for both existing and new customers, under the guidelines that fit our company business model. For consideration, the qualified candidate will fully understand bid requests, take-offs, and how proposals should be presented/provided to customers.

Job Responsibilities

Evaluate and review partial to complete drawings, specifications, and construction documents to understand the project as a whole and its individual components.

Investigate and confirm all general contractors who will be bidding on the project.

To include contacting architects, customers, and using any other means

Generate accurate and clear quantity take off information to provide a detailed list of materials and required labor tasks.

Estimate time, labor requirements, material, and subcontractor costs to determine overall cost of project.

Determine labor factors and productivity, relevant to project complexity.

Provide projected budget for general contractors or property owners, to evaluate the feasibility of a project.

Provide project cost updates as drawing and documents become more detailed.

Attend our on-site pre-bid meetings/job walks to review existing conditions, site access, and obtain other required information.

Review estimates for profitability and selling price with General Manager.

Follow-up with client/customer on submitted proposals and budgets.

Work with project managers to review the estimate bid details of awarded projects to set up job codes, production factors, material suppliers and subcontractors.

Collaborate with contractors, architects, and engineers to provide workability means and methods to existing field problems.

Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.

Navigate and understand rules and standards related to work scopes.

Maintain knowledge of current codes, construction innovations and improvements in the industry.

Assist project teams in cost monitoring and reporting of field data to be used for future projects.

Prepare and maintain company database of job cost history and production from reported field data.

Update and maintain cost databases for materials, labor costs, labor production and other related factors.

For job costing, assist project managers and teams in establishing measurable field production goals to meet production bid for the project.

Ensure all working documents and data are organized to back-up estimate and ensure a smooth transition from estimating to operations after project is awarded.

Review bids at end of year to determine success rate.

Job Qualifications, physical Requirements and character traits:

Minimum 3-5 years of related electrical estimating experience in the Electrical Contractor Industry.

Full knowledge of generating electricity, electrical systems, and low voltage systems.

Strong conceptual and procedural math skills.

Analytical and critical thinking.

Clear communication, presenting bids and budgets both verbally and in writing.

Time management, managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Research to maintain knowledge regarding current building codes.

Read and interpret technical documents such as drawings, specs, and item details.

Utilize on screen take-off software.

Utilize estimation software and Excel based spreadsheets.

Can Do Attitude: Positive, Helpful and Energetic.

Strong Character with Enthusiasm and a Sense of Urgency.

Always Punctual, Ambitious, and most importantly Likeable.

Solid work history showing progressive reliability and conscientiousness.

Hearing and speaking to exchange information.

Lift moderate to heavy objects up to 40 lbs.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and company systems to communicate effectively with team and customers.
