JOB DESCRIPTION

Welder/Fabricators duties may vary based on the department they are in and the item being manufactured in it. Designing, cutting, shaping stainless steel, joining together parts by using either manual or automated welding equipment; repairing or creating new items.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and engineering plans
  • Laying out, cutting, fitting, measuring and welding stainless steel to create the desired shape or object as defined in the blueprints
  • Accuracy in reading a tape measure, caliper, or other tools of measure to ensure appropriate cutting of the stainless steel.
  • High attention to detail and quality
  • Can work independently or within a group
  • Be able to produce high standard of quality welds on a consistent basis
  • Inspection of the item produced and make corrections before sending it off to the next station
  • Be able to meet the physical demands of the position (standing for long periods; bending/ lifting/ holding/ grasping)
  • Duties vary based on the department; other duties as deemed necessary

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to read blueprints; drawings
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, suing whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Apply common sense understand to carry out simple one or two-step instructions
  • Able to use small to midsized hand tools in a safe manner

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • 1 month related experience and/or training
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in reading a tape measure; accurately taking measurements
  • Basic knowledge of the principles of welding and the types of welding styles
  • Auto body experience a plus
  • Previous work in a warehouse, manufacturing plant, or laborer

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel. Employee frequently is required to stand and reach with hands and arms. Employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision. Also while performing this job you will be exposed regularly to fumes and airborne particles and occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level is usually moderate to loud.
