Position: Medical Assistant (Ophthalmic)

Location: Honolulu, HI

Pay: $23/hr to $25/hr (depending on experience)

Experience: Related experience desired

Education: Some college preferred; Ophthalmic Assistant Certification preferred; valid CPR certification required

Type: Full-time; Contract 

Schedule: Monday - Friday, Day Shift 

Kahu Malama Nurses is seeking a Medical Assistant (Ophthalmic) to join a growing and dynamic team!  

 

Job Description: 

• Introduce new patients to office procedures, answer questions, and explain the purpose of tests performed
• Collect patient medical history, including ocular details, family history, allergies, and medication records
• Handle documenting and measuring patient’s visual acuity, confrontational visual fields, stereo testing, etc.
• Assist with dilating pupils, visual field testing, optic nerve scanning, and other testing
• Maintain instruments and exam room
• Assist the surgery scheduling department, front desk, and scribe for the doctor

Position Requirements: 

• Valid CPR certification
• Demonstrated computer literacy
• Effective team member with an empathetic personality
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Versatile problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent organizational skills with great attention to detail
