About the Position:

The position of Commercial Loan Assistant is responsible for assisting loan officers and other credit staff in the closing and servicing of loans and to provide general support for other credit-related activities. Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.


Essential Duties:

Assists loan officers with organization of credit files for processing (underwriting, documentation, closing, decline, etc.) after a credit request is prescreened and decisioned. This may include:

  • Organizing, naming, formatting, scanning, indexing data files.
  • Ordering background reports such as credit reports, D&B reports, or lien searches.
  • Prepare correspondence such as commitment letters, needs letters, or credit denials.
  • Opening escrows and coordinating title work.
  • Ordering third party reports such as appraisals, environmental reports, and collateral exams.
  • Assist with getting closing documentation from Borrower.
  • Verifying insurance.
  • Clearing closing conditions.
  • Preparing documentation order forms.
  • Ordering payoffs.
  • Reviewing loan documentation for accuracy.
  • Coordinating closing with borrowers, guarantors, brokers, title companies, or attorneys.
  • Coordinating cross-sell of bank products and services with other bank departments.


  • Answers the telephone; responds to routine loan officer or customer inquiries relative to account balances, loan balances, loan advances, pay downs, or other miscellaneous loan servicing tasks.
  • Provides effective customer service and assists in resolving problems within given authority.
  • Prepares routine correspondence, reports, and forms.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and adherence to EEO policy; shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences; educates others on the value of diversity; promotes working environment free of harassment of any type; builds a diverse workforce and supports affirmative action.
  • Assures compliance with all Bank policies, procedures and processes, and all applicable state and federal banking laws, rules, and regulations, and adheres to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) responsibilities that are specific to the position.
  • Follows policies and procedures; complete administrative tasks correctly and on time, including mandatory Bank Compliance Training; supports the Bank's goals and values; benefits the bank through outside activities.

Requirements:

These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner.   • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Related work experience in positions such as loan assistant or loan closer, in a financial institution, title company, escrow company, or law firm.
  • Intermediate level of work experience, knowledge and training in loan application processing, loan terminology, loan closing, loan documentation, business entity documentation.
  • Intermediate knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank lending policies.
  • Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; internet searches; and MS Office (Word and Excel).
  • Intermediate typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
  • Intermediate math skills; calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
  • Ability to deal with multiple tasks with varying degrees of difficulty with hard completion deadlines.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
  • Current California driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive while performing assigned duties and responsibilities.


Compensation details: 20-28 Hourly Wage
