Laser Operator/Set Up

The position of Laser/Punch Operator operates the CNC laser cutting machine as well as the punch machines and supports production by cutting, bending and punching metal products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate the CNC laser cutting machine, StripIt Punch machinery used in the production process, or assist other machine operators; able to optimize cutting parameters on the machine.
  • Perform basic to advanced level set ups following department guidelines.
  • Possess necessary knowledge about shield gasses used during laser cutting operations.
  • Monitor fill level of bulk tank system and report reordering levels to appropriate staff. 
  • Prepare product for movement to next department.
  • Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task.   Identify potential issues and take corrective action. Involve appropriate staff when necessary. 
  • Work with team members and Engineers to problem solve and to maximize productivity and efficiency. 
  • Lift raw materials, final products, and items packed for shipment, manually, or using lift truck.

Requirements:

  • basic math skills
  • ability to be cross trained on equipment
  • knowledge of laser/punch operation
  • knowledge of how to use hand/power tools
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to strictly follow safety protocol and procedure
