Summary: The Senior Instructional System Designer (Sr ISD) works to identify skills, knowledge, and information gaps of a targeted audience and, based on instructional theory and best practices, to select or create learning experiences that close this gap. In the Senior ISD role, they are also responsible for leading the analysis and design activities for the learning solutions within a project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Sr ISD's duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following tasks:
• Applies instructional systems methodology (e.g., Instructional Systems Development, Systems Approach to Training, or Training Systems Development) to ensure integrity of the training development process
• Stays current with emerging learning technologies; consults with client stakeholders on learning technologies and methodologies for learning delivery; is able to communicate the value of and/or potential deficiencies of different modalities to enable effective client decision-making, as appropriate
• Engages with client stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to solicit information as required during all phases of the project, and to provide suggestions or feedback where appropriate
• Facilitates or actively participates in meetings to solicit information required for learning design and development activities
• Designs and collaborates in development of learning resources in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video, and animation technologies to support project requirements:
oDesigns web-based training that engages participants through interactive exercises, videos, and animations
oUses creative writing to generate scripts, scenarios, case studies and other products that enhance the learning process
• Validates learning solutions through implementation of objectives and assessments that promote learning and evaluate product effectiveness
• Delivers according to deadlines to ensure timely completion of project components
• Supports account leadership by contributing ideas and suggestions for process improvement related to ISD workplace functions
• Works well independently and as a collaborative member of a team; effective team leader for mentoring and coaching less experienced ISDs to achieve desired results
Skills and Experience
• Security clearance a plus
• Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint) required
• Navy/Submarine Operations background a plus
• Proficiency in Adobe Product knowledge; especially Captive for eLearning design and development a plus
