These positions may be located at either Linthicum MD, McLean VA, or any of the division major sites which include Warner Robbins GA, Oklahoma City OK, and Orlando FL.The candidate selected will be a direct report to the Global Battle Management & Readiness (GBMR) Division Director of Engineering and will support the Business Unit and Vice President.The Business Unit Engineering Director (D1) is responsible for a wide range of activities to include workforce development & management and engineering execution excellence on all business unit programs and initiatives.  This position requires regular interaction with leadership at the business unit and division level.   As the Engineering Director you will be responsible for:Leading an engineering organization with responsibility for engineering execution across the portfolio and workforce managementOptimizing engineering processes and driving adoption of common engineering practices, tools and metrics, especially supporting digital engineeringMaking workforce forecasting, assignment and rotation processes efficient and aligned to BU & division growth and DE&I initiativesDeveloping workforce skill competencies aligned to BU and Division strategies and enterprise initiatives as well as managing talent pipelines and succession plans.Achieving  BU engineering budget allocations, workforce utilization, retention rate and talent acquisition fulfillment metricsA successful candidate for this role will:Excel at organization and navigating ambiguity to drive clarity and inform and unite othersExemplify a sense of urgency, ownership of tasks and accountabilityRecognize the importance of an intentional culture -- both at an individualized and organizational level -- with demonstrated commitment to and success in individual employee and broader organizational developmentPartner effectively across organizational lines to achieve goals and objectives, preferably with specific appreciation for the interactions across various engineering disciplines and roles and responsibilities on complex DoD programsPossess proven expertise in one or more engineering discipline, with associated technical accomplishmentsBe an oft-sought counsel, relied upon to solve unique problems and make sound engineering decisionsEffectively communicate and inspire, both through verbal and written mediumBasic Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in engineering or scientific related field; with 10 years of experience in engineeringMinimum 5 years of formal leadership experience for multi-discipline engineering populations and teams including budget responsibilityKnowledgeable of product development life cycle and interactions among engineering disciplinesDemonstrated written and verbal communication skills appropriate to technical, non-technical and senior leadership audiencesAbility to obtain and maintain a secret clearancePreferred Qualifications:Active Secret Clearance investigated within the last 5 years.Master's degree or higher in engineering or related scientific disciplineKnowledgeable of model-based engineering methods and tools5 years in either Systems Engineering or Software Engineering5 years’ experience with Agile MethodologiesSalary Range: $181,900.00 - $272,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
