The National Security Sector of Leidos has an immediate opening for a Technical Documentation Specialist in Abingdon, MD.

The Technical Documentation Specialist will support program efforts to develop and refined technical documentation, to include manuals, procedures, and product specifications. The successful candidate will support the Configuration Manager, playing a pivotal role in streamlining the configuration management processes and directly contributing to operational efficiencies. The Technical Documentation Specialist will leverage analytical skill and logic-based approaches to solve issues, adapt processes, and recommend viable solutions.

This position is a hybrid role with 3 days in the Abingdon, MD office.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine technical documentation, including manuals, procedures, and specifications, ensuring compliance with quality standards and government regulations.
  • Create and maintain tools for efficient configuration management and reporting.
  • Engage in professional communication with program stakeholders to gather, develop, and disseminate product specifications.
  • Perform comprehensive product research, leveraging various methodologies to support configuration management and cataloging efforts.
  • Support development of the product specification CDRLs for TI items. This includes conducting a technical review of all TI artifacts (TI Request for Proposal, supplier quote(s), manufacturers’ literature, and program pricing tables); collecting, developing, and reporting product specifications; and identifying, reporting and resolving all discovered discrepancies between these documents.
  • Use the Intelligent Logistics Platform (ILP) and Windchill to support configuration management efforts.
  • Maintain the CM Plan throughout the contract period of performance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of experience or an Associate’s degree with 4+ years of experience. Relevant experience in Configuration management, or extensive knowledge and experience with complex inventory management (at the component, subcomponent, attribute, and artifact level) may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to obtain DoD Secret security clearance; US Citizenship required.
  • Proficient in Visual Basic programming, with a strong aptitude for developing and optimizing tools.
  • Solid grasp of technical product knowledge, with capability to conduct detailed analyses and documentation.
  • Possess deep understanding of technical terminologies and functions across wide range of communications and IT equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience in configuration change management principles, bill of materials, technical document, product drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Effective organization skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to quickly grasp overarching concepts and independently scale that knowledge to multiple scenarios.
  • Possess expertise in MS Office Suite and various PDF tools for documentation and analysis purposes.
  • Ability to travel to Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD customer site as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint collaboration software.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance.

Pay Range:Pay Range $55,250.00 - $99,875.00
