The following responsibilities represent the essential functions of the position. An employee in this classification is responsible for carrying out the following functions:

· Perform grounds keeping and building maintenance duties.

· Mow lawn, by either hand or using a riding lawnmower.

· Cut lawn using hand, power or riding mower and trim and edge around walks,

flowerbeds, and walls.

· Landscape by planting flowers, grass, shrubs, and bushes.

· Apply pesticide to rid grounds of pests such as mosquitos, wasps, ticks, and

others.

· Apply fertilizer to ground to enhance growth.

· Perform routine maintenance duties such as applying plaster, fixing fountains, and

other duties assigned by the facilities department.

· Sweep walkway of debris.

· Cut down tree limbs that are posing a danger.

· Trim shrubs and pull weeds.

· Perform preventive maintenance procedures and minor repairs on equipment

utilized in grounds keeping.

· Install exterior furniture.

· Rake, mulch, and prune the grounds as needed.

· Install rock, cement, lighting, water, and furniture (Hardscape).

· Water plants and grass as needed and apply fertilizer.

· Repair / replace broken sprinkler valves / sprinklers

· Knowledge of basic facilities experience is a must. Basic plumbing. Change out

light bulbs. Painting. Etc

High school diploma or equivalent plus two years of related experience in a landscaping or groundskeeping role. Possession of a valid California driver's license and clear driving record. Approval by HOPE's insurance carrier may be required.

· Must be able to operate maintenance equipment including lawn mowers, leaf

blowers, and hedge trimmers

· Strong knowledge of pest management and basic lawn maintenance

· High attention to detail

Exposure to hazardous chemicals (fertilizers, pesticides, etc.), fumes from equipment operation, dust/dirt and pollens. Local travel required.
