Job Description

  • CMM Programmers, Operators, and Inspectors are needed immediately to fill Full-Time positions for a rapidly growing metrology company that provides metrology services to different companies throughout the U.S. and internationally (aerospace, nuclear, shipbuilding, energy, satellite, automotive, hydroelectric, crane rails, automation lines, survey, transportation).

  • Advanced knowledge of Fixed Hexagon CMM with PC-DMIS software required and ability to program, inspect, and report along with the following duties:

  • Responsible for performing 3D inspection and documenting results to

  • support the Quality Management System.

  • Prior experience doing mechanical inspection and operating CMM in a shop environment. Experience with all-size parts is a plus.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain the CMM Program

  • Import models (Catia, etc.) into PC-DMIS software for inspection

  • Advanced math skills (Algebra, Trigonometry, GD&T Math)

  • Perform dimensional inspection layouts using a Coordinate Measuring Machine

  • (CMM), height gages, calipers, micrometers, bore gages, etc...

  • Assure pieces are within specified geometric tolerances required and are in compliance with engineered drawings and company specifications

  • Help identify causes of rejects and follow-through for corrective action

  • Communicate with Customers, Quality Control, Manufacturing, and Engineering in verbal and written form, and document inspection results in the required format

  • Read and understand blueprints and part drawings, including geometric dimensions and tolerance methods (GD&T.)

  • Possess knowledge and understanding of tooling, gauges, specifications, and machining processes and techniques.

  • Procedure and standards development

  • Provide time estimates for part inspection

  • Identify any fixture requirements for part inspection

  • Experience or willingness to learn how to operate Laser Trackers to include Leica with T-Probe and T-Scan, or Faro desired, as well as Photogrammetry (V-Stars and GSI Cameras), Faro Arms with HD Scanners, Surphaser Scanners, Creaform Handyscan Scanners or Total Stations.

  • Proficiency with computers is key and knowledge of Catia V5 or other solid modeling programs helpful, as well as experience or willingness to learn other measurement software packages to include Spatial Analyzer (SA), Polyworks, Geomagic, Metrolog V5 and XG, Verisurf, PC-DMIS, Cam2, Imageware or Metrix Build!IT preferred.

  • Familiarity with tooling and optics or prior jig and fixture builder or tool making experience is beneficial. Strong mechanical aptitude, math skills, and ability to read drawings desired.

  • May be up to 50% travel to the customer sites and must be willing to work some overtime and weekends, and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Possess a valid driver's license and legally be able to operate a company vehicle (also must have a personal vehicle available for use)

  • Be able to work independently as well as with a team

  • Have a history of being reliable and dependable

  • Have good customer relations skills

  • Be proficient in the use of a computer

  • Be able to physically perform all duties required which may include: bending, lifting, carrying, squatting, moving around in confined spaces, or being on your feet for prolonged periods of time

  • Be willing to work around industrial, mechanical, and electrical equipment, as well as use hand tools and power tools

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Be willing to wear safety equipment when necessary
