About this job

Responsible for the management of assigned staff, ensuring adherence to customer service levels and achieving the financial targets in support of the business objectives. Provides continuous coaching and feedback to ensure on-going technical, personal and professional development for assigned claim staff. Collaborates with Claims technical advisors to ensure adherence to technical standards, procedures and practices.

This position will be seated in Sentry's El Paso, TX office.

What You'll Do:

As the Claims Manager, you'll provide exceptional guidance and direction to the Non-Standard Auto Claims Unit, helping Sentry maintain its level of standards, and ensure a high level of customer service is provided to our policyholders and claimants. In addition, you'll:

  • Provide managerial oversight, professional development, and guidance for a team of claims representatives

  • Build a high-trust work environment by utilizing the recognized behaviors that inspire trust and through building credibility by increasing individual character and competence

  • Work with assigned staff to create a clear and compelling purpose by defining the job to be done and demonstrating the strategic link to the department's mission and strategic objectives

  • Work with your assigned staff to assist with and partner on their personal and professional development

  • Analyze claims metrics and financial outcomes to identify business or environmental trends

  • Analyze workloads and manage staffing resources to achieve set claims metrics, program utilization requirements, file technical standards, and customer service levels

  • Review and evaluate the team's work to assure adherence to claim standards

  • Participate in file review sessions and protocols to determine direction

  • Administers human resource-related activities including timely performance and salary reviews, selection, and development.

What it Takes:

  • Bachelor's, Degree or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience

  • Ability to speak and write in both Spanish and English highly preferred

  • Prior supervisory and/or management experience is preferred

  • Previous experience in claims handling; including investigations, evaluation, and negotiating settlements

  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of claims related metrics and financial outcomes, and comfortable making decisions based on analytical abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
