We do this by offering services, such as airport pickups, holiday hosting, temporary housing, conversation partnerships, and social events and trips.

Expected work schedule for the Champaign-Urbana Ministry Coordinator:

  • Full- or part-time, flexible schedule
  • Occasional evenings and/or weekends for specific events/projects
  • Attendance at several conferences each year, including IFI Staff Retreats

Pay structure for a Champaign-Urbana Ministry Coordinator:

  • Requires the development of a ministry partner team which supplies the necessary prayer and financial support to cover salary, benefits, and ministry expenses
  • Training is provided to develop a team of ministry partners
  • Pay range is typically between $25,709 and $80,000 after the period of support development, based on experience and other factors

About the area and Responsibilities of a Champaign-Urbana Ministry Coordinator:

The University of Illinois has almost 13,000 international students from over 100 countries, which is the sixth largest international student population center in the country. This is an excellent university in so many ways, which draws key students from all over the world. The 2022-23 U.S. News & World Report's America's Best Colleges rankings rated U of I as the number 13 public university and the number 41 national university. This position is part of the Champaign-Urbana ministry team and requires the candidate to live near the campus on which they will be serving.

The Champaign-Urbana Ministry Coordinator supports the location leader with church relations, volunteer mobilization, and campus ministry. This position relies on the Champaign-Urbana Ministry Coordinator's knowledge of Christian values and content, the ability to share that with others, and administrative and people skills.

The Champaign-Urbana Ministry Coordinator will:

  • Campus Ministry
    • Coordinate/participate in cultural activities/trips
    • Extend hospitality to international students, such as welcoming them to the area, providing transportation to activities, and familiarizing them with their new environment
    • Participate in an outreach activity, such as bible study, friendship partnership, or 1-on-1 discipleship
  • Church Relations
    • Establish new church relationships
    • Activate church coordinators and facilitate their involvement
    • Maintain data related to church partnerships and coordinators
  • Volunteer Coordination
    • Work with volunteers, including recruitment and matching to activities
    • Attend and assist volunteers during outreach activities and big events
    • Maintain data related to volunteers

Qualifications needed from the Champaign-Urbana Ministry Coordinator, including Spiritual Characteristics

  • Adherence to IFI's statement of faith, core values, and policies
  • Is faithful, loyal, and dedicated to IFI's mandate from the Lord to extend God's love globally through equipping Christians to be effective cross-cultural communicators of the Gospel
  • Well organized with attention to detail and ability to complete tasks independently
  • Be a self-starter, as well as a team player
  • Ability to work under stress and be flexible
  • Enjoys working with people and has strong interpersonal skills, especially when addressing a dissatisfied student or volunteer
  • Proficient with technology, including Microsoft Office and Google applications

Education/Experience Preferred for Champaign-Urbana Ministry Coordinator:

  • Bachelor degree (or higher) in education and/or ministry-related field or demonstrated experience mobilizing, training, and ministering to people
  • Cross-cultural ministry experience, preferred
