Registration Clerk

Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Billing Office Manager, the Registration Clerk is responsible for daily patient registration for the Pre-Admissions department.

This position is a full time position working Monday through Friday.

Essential Job Functions

• Registers patients for lab work, verifies accuracy of insurance information, collects payments
• Input all updated patient information into patient profile and lab account.
• Works directly with patients and their families
• Prepares patient charts
• Admit and discharge each lab account
• File lab orders for upcoming surgeries
• Answer phones
• Maintains as confidential all observed or acquired information regarding the patient, the patients history, surgical procedure, and perioperative experience.
• Maintains inter-staff communication as confidential.
• Assists in the collection of data for continuing quality improvement.
• Ensures waiting area is kept neat and tidy.
• Performs other duties assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required. Post-secondary education preferred.
• BLS Certification required.
• Use of knowledge of medical terminology.
• Able to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
• Dependable and customer service oriented.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.
• 1 year related experience and/or training

• Computer skills with emphasis on healthcare systems.
• Organization and time management without direct order.
• Knowledge of team building and dynamics.
• Physical movements include sitting, reaching, bending, stooping and stretching.
• Able to lift a minimum of 15 lbs.
