Salary:

Job Purpose


The Certified Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the supervision of the fiscal staff. Provides operational and programmatic support to the Chief Executive Officer and Administrative Staff by assisting on strategic matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis and forecasting needs. Position may require periodic evening and weekend hours.


Duties and Responsibilities


1. Assist in performing all tasks necessary to achieve the organization’s mission and help execute staff succession.

2. Train the Fiscal Staff and other staff (i.e. department managers) on awareness and knowledge of financial management matters.

3. Participate in the development of new programs or services by assisting the CEO and management staff in the development of programmatic budgets and determining the cost effectiveness of service delivery.

4. Ensure adequate controls are installed and substantiating documentation is submitted so that all purchases may pass independent and governmental audits.

5. Responsible for the preparation of the monthly and annual financial reports; including revenue/expense and balance sheet reports, and reports to the CEO for respective funding agencies.

6. Provide the CEO and Administration/Management staff with annual operating budget for CEO review.

7. Oversee purchasing staff and payroll activity for organization, which includes payroll taxes and liabilities.

8. Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization and oversee federal/state/local awards and programs. Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors ensuring all A-133 audit issues are resolved, and preparation of the annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and federal, state and other required supplementary schedules and information.

9. Monitor banking activities of the organization and make recommendations to the CEO to ensure financial assets are being managed in an effective and efficient manner.

10. Monitor the financial vulnerability reports to ensure there is adequate cash flow to meet the organization’s needs. This will require the overseeing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.

11. Responsible for all QuickBooks functions used for the organization’s accounting purposes.

12. Responsible for checking your Company assigned email daily.

13. Other duties deemed necessary.


Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and/or six (6) years of full time experience as a Controller or Chief Financial Officer level, including two (2) years of supervisory experience. Experience in a private, non-profit setting preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license and pass a pre-employment Federal background check.


Physical and Mental Requirements


Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while performing job. Constantly operate and/or use objects, tools, or office equipment in a productive manner. Ability to move or position weight up to 25 pounds. Must be able to detect and correctly identify objects at any distance. Employee must be able to exchange information and converse with people either in person or over the phone without misunderstanding. Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely. Mental work efforts may involve understanding oral written instructions, which includes routine decision making on policies and procedures and grants management.
