At Barron, our Payroll Specialist will:

  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for all team members accurately and in a timely manner, including validation of wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, spiffs, taxes and deductions
  • Prepare and submit weekly certified payroll reports in accordance with state and federal regulations for public works projects
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in payroll laws, regulations, and reporting requirements to ensure compliance and mitigate risks
  • Collaborate with the finance department to reconcile payroll data and resolve any discrepancies
  • Collaborate with the finance department to conduct various annual audits
  • Support administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks, ensuring timely invoice payment, reconciliation and accuracy of related earnings and deductions
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and related matters in a prompt and professional manner
  • Assist in the preparation of payroll-related documentation, such as W-2 forms, 1099s, and other tax filings
  • Support People Ops initiatives and special projects as needed
  • Provide general support and compensation guidance to all department managers and Barron team members
  • Collaborate and build relationships across all departments
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of personnel, payroll and benefits information
  • Support co-workers while providing world-class customer service

An outstanding Payroll Specialist will have the following talents:

  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and reporting requirements, including certified payroll
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, calculations, and analysis
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Familiarity with benefits administration and human resource processes and regulations is a plus

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field is preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll administration required, preferably in construction or trades industry
  • Proficiency in payroll software and systems, Paylocity experience is a plus
  • Certification in payroll administration (e.g., CPP) is preferred but not required
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Pre-Employment drug screening
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States

Compensation:

  • Full-Time, Exempt
  • $67,800 - $78,000 per year; DOE
  • Annual cost-of-living adjustments
