At Barron, our Payroll Specialist will:
- Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for all team members accurately and in a timely manner, including validation of wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, spiffs, taxes and deductions
- Prepare and submit weekly certified payroll reports in accordance with state and federal regulations for public works projects
- Stay up-to-date on changes in payroll laws, regulations, and reporting requirements to ensure compliance and mitigate risks
- Collaborate with the finance department to reconcile payroll data and resolve any discrepancies
- Collaborate with the finance department to conduct various annual audits
- Support administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks, ensuring timely invoice payment, reconciliation and accuracy of related earnings and deductions
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and related matters in a prompt and professional manner
- Assist in the preparation of payroll-related documentation, such as W-2 forms, 1099s, and other tax filings
- Support People Ops initiatives and special projects as needed
- Provide general support and compensation guidance to all department managers and Barron team members
- Collaborate and build relationships across all departments
- Maintain strict confidentiality of personnel, payroll and benefits information
- Support co-workers while providing world-class customer service

An outstanding Payroll Specialist will have the following talents:
- Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and reporting requirements, including certified payroll
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, calculations, and analysis
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Familiarity with benefits administration and human resource processes and regulations is a plus
Experience & Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field is preferred but not required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll administration required, preferably in construction or trades industry
- Proficiency in payroll software and systems, Paylocity experience is a plus
- Certification in payroll administration (e.g., CPP) is preferred but not required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Pre-Employment drug screening
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
Compensation:
- Full-Time, Exempt
- $67,800 - $78,000 per year; DOE
- Annual cost-of-living adjustments
