Key Qualifications

  • Supports individuals in accessing or maintaining SUD treatment recognizing the validity of “multiple pathways to self-defined recovery.”
  • Supports exploring all resources when helping someone achieve recovery including healthy nutrition.
  • Meeting with clients regularly to offer one-on-one support and counseling.
  • Developing recovery plans, coping methods, and rehabilitation strategies with the client.
  • Arranging medical appointments, therapy sessions, support groups, and other resources to aid the client.
  • Monitoring the client's behavior, schedule, medication, and activities.
  • Reporting any unusual behavior, conflicts, or recovery deviations to the relevant professionals and assists with data-tracking requirements related to peer support care.
  • Coordinating the client's logistics such as medical appointments and therapy sessions, among others.
  • Conducting assessments and providing feedback to the client, medical professionals, and the family.
  • Generating recovery reviews and performance documents to track the rehabilitation process and supports program enrollees in care plan goal completion.
  • Uses eHR for data entry and care coordination/referral documentation.

Description


You will be responsible for supporting clients’ SUD treatment goals for recovery and self-sufficiency. Through shared understanding, respect, and mutual empowerment, the Peer Support Specialist, who has lived SUD experience, helps clients to become and stay engaged in their recovery from addictions and reduces the likelihood of relapse. Core values of the Peer Support Specialist include hope, person driven/centered, holistic wellness, authenticity, cultural responsiveness and humility, respect, integrity, advocacy, confidentiality, safe and protection, education, mutuality, reciprocity, strengths as wellness, recovery and resilience based. Finally, you will provide planning support, build professional learning plans, and offer hands-on instructional coaching and mentoring with an emphasis on compassion.


Education & Experience

  • Must be at least 18 years of age. Provide a government-issued identification with photograph, such as driver’s license, identification card, or passport.
  • Possess a high school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED). Submission of educational transcripts are required.
  • Self-identify as an individual with lived experience, a Peer.
  • Be willing to share their experience as a person with lived experience.
  • Have a strong dedication to recovery.
  • Agree, in writing, to adhere to the California Department of Health Care Services Code of Ethics for Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists in California.
  • Successfully complete and demonstrate completion of an 80-hour training covering California’s 17-core competencies for Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists. Training must be obtained from a CalMHSA-approved training program which will be provided and funded by Janus

Pay & Benefits


At Janus, base salary is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $23.00 and $24.00 per hour and your base pay will be considered on your job-related skills, training, qualifications, experience, and relevant education.
