This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor and is responsible for operating grinders and related tools that remove excess material from fiberglass surfaces.

JOB DESCRIPTION
This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor and is responsible for operating grinders and related tools that remove excess material from fiberglass surfaces.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Operate grinding equipment; including but not limited to hand grinders, air tools and bandsaws.
- Measure and mark equipment, objects, or parts to ensure grinding standards are met.
- Transfer equipment, objects, or parts to specified work areas, using moving devices.
- Select machine tooling to be used, using knowledge of machine and production requirements.
- Lift and position workpieces manually and secure them on machine tables, and other work benches, using clamps.
- Measure workpieces to maintain precision.
- Follow machine and hand tool safety protocols.
- Set and adjust machine controls according to product specifications, using knowledge of machine operation.
- Maintain stocks of machine parts and machining tools.
- Work with Production Manager when equipment repairs or replacements are needed.
- Reports hazards associated with the equipment or its operation to the Safety Department and Production Supervisor and Manager.
- Performs inventory for area quarterly.
- Maintains a level of output that will minimize production delays.
- Communicates effectively with other workers to coordinate workflow.
- Assists other individuals in any department when needed.
- Assists in housekeeping items and clean work area daily by sweeping and putting away tools and other items.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Good communication skills relative to supervisor and other related departments.
- Experience with hand tools and measuring devices preferred.
- Math skills including good understanding of fractions.
- Ability to lift, up to 50 pounds.
