Job Description:
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED required with 0-2 years of technical experience, OR 2-yr associates degree in Electronics Technology, Diesel Power Equipment Technology, or a related field. Skills and Competencies: Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem-solving ability. Team player. Detail oriented. Knowledge of electrical components and/or hydraulic components. Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Knowledge of relevant computer applications, such as Microsoft Office products. Additional Job Details: This job is for a Support Technician within the Component Products Department at Caterpillar. In this role, the candidate will support projects in the lab by maintaining equipment, executing functional evaluations, and executing select test activities. Testing would include performance, electrical, environmental, and durability evaluations. Candidates will integrate with fellow technicians and engineering staff. Required skills include knowledge of safe work practices, use of hand tools, and demonstrated ability to follow existing processes. Candidates should also have proven experience working on a team. Previous experience working in a lab environment is a plus. This position is a key contributor to a team of technicians that are executing development and validation testing. In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for analyzing field returns, basic functional evaluations and other testing, as directed by the work director and development technicians. The role will also entail logging metrics and ensuring test equipment is in good working condition and following prescribed maintenance schedules.
Education & Experience Required:
2-year electronics degree preferred.
Experience is not required, but examples of experiences a top candidate might have include:
Ham radio or software defined radio work or hobby
General electronics experience
Radio Frequency electronics experience
Electronic lab equipment like Spectrum analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Power Meters, Amplifies, Signal Generators, and Network Analyzers.
Technical Skills

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems on a variety of systems
Understanding of basic electronics concepts such capacitance.
