Job Summary

If you're interested in a Mid-Level Biologist job, then this is the best role for you. We are seeking an innovative biologist with experience in plant development and seed physiology in the Organization of Innovation Science and Engineering (ISE). ISE is a fast-paced, timeline-driven, team-oriented environment that requires collaboration, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a diverse and multifunctional team environment. The position will also be responsible for identifying opportunities for system or process improvements, onboarding of new technologies or methods, and assisting in method development. The successful candidate will thrive on meeting challenges, insist on high-quality deliverables, demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, and possess the ability to build productive external and internal relationships.

Job Description

  • Support the design, execution, and analysis of experiments to better understand/characterize the physiological and developmental response of crop plants to various treatments aiming to improve plant performance.
  • Generate high-quality data and maintain detailed record-keeping and documentation for process improvements.
  • Collaborate with other scientists on the team and support the discovery, development, and deployment of novel technologies.
  • Complete job-related training and share a culture of safety, innovation, customer focus and collaboration.

Skills Required

  • 1 or more years of research experience in crop/plant/seed physiology, seed biology, plant developmental biology, plant reproductive biology, plant cell biology, tissue culture and transformation, plant biochemistry or a related field is desired.
  • A high attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time and perform tasks outdoors in the field.
  • Desired technical skills:
    • General plant care
    • Greenhouse, growth chamber, and field experimentation (setting and monitoring environmental conditions)
    • Seed germination assay preparation and evaluation
    • Media preparation
    • Basic imaging and image analysis

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in the area of biological sciences.
