Job Description
This is a hybrid position where the majority of your time would be spent working in the quality department inspecting parts and filling out quality control documentation. The other part of your time would be spent learning how to perform tests and analyze chemistry in the chemistry laboratory under the guidance of a full-time chemist. The intention would be to assist our chemist part of your day on a daily basis and to fill in for the chemist when the chemist is absent.
Job Duties
· Inspect finished parts visually and for thickness according to customer and specification requirements.
· Work with unracking department to evaluate the quality of parts coming off the plating line.
· Work with packing department to evaluate the quality of parts being packaged to ship.
· Work closely with plating department to inspect parts in-process and to communicate key information pertaining to quality.
· Ensure that work order shop travelers are filled out completely and accurately.
· Set up and use eddy current thickness measuring device to measure coated parts.
· Record inspection results and other pertinent information on various logs and work order shop traveler documentation.
· Contact customers via telephone and email regarding lost, damaged, or questionable coated parts. Record results of conversations with customers on the work order shop traveler.
· Analyze plating bath chemistry to determine if concentration is acceptable or if an addition is needed.
· Utilize atomic absorption (AA) machine to determine if wastewater is in compliance.
· Maintain and operate the salt spray testing cabinet to perform monthly salt spray tests.
· Perform daily checks on the RO/DI water system and boiler water system
· Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
· Lab experience (preferred, but will train a motivated and capable person)
· Positive attitude and strong work ethic
· Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
· Good communication skills when drafting emails and speaking to customers
· Computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm
