Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for CHCM/CSU roles, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices, etc. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay at CHCM/CSU in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Provide direct programmatic nursing care to patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Assumes responsibility for completing all assigned duties. Works cooperatively with treatment team personnel in the clinical setting.
QUALIFICATIONS
Certified as a Nursing Assistant in California, preferred experience in mental health setting with relevant age group (45+). Motivated to be directly involved with patients. Required CPR. Management Assaultive Behavior (MAB) is required within 90 days of hire. Effective verbal and written communication in English.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sitting for long periods of time. Frequent walking, standing, bending and reaching. Occasional lifting with assistance up to 250 pounds. Frequent pulling and pushing up to 200 pounds. Corrected vision and hearing to a normal range. Finger dexterity. Constant exposure to stressful situation. Constant patient contact.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Frequent exposure to noise. Occasional exposure to dirt, dust, smoke and fumes. Occasional exposure to cold, heat, chemicals and general cleaning chemicals. Rare exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Shift hours may vary dependent upon department needs to include weekends and holidays.
MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(All duties listed below are essential to the job.)
* General Staff Accountabilities

Observes allotted break and meal periods as prescribed by Hospital Policy and follows time card procedures by accurately writing in and out.
Attends to personal affairs to avoid any interference with productivity.
Adheres to the Dress Code.
Demonstrates an understanding of their personal role in the case of fire/disaster and participates in Performance Improvement activities.
Functions with an awareness of patient safety issues and applies basic principles of safety as identified within the facility.
Follows the occurrence reporting policy and procedure in reporting any potential safety issues.
*Job Specific Duties
Effectively maintains continuous awareness of patient activities, needs, and changes in these and responds appropriately and reports observations to the Registered Nurse.
Effectively assists in the admission process.
Demonstrates technical competence in the following: Measurement and documentation of vital signs, weight, food and fluid intake, output. Bathing, grooming, dressing patients & ADLS if required by site.
Effectively utilizes verbal de-escalation as the preferred means of reducing patient agitation.
Effectively takes direction from staff members in emergency situations.
Effectively seeks supervisory guidance on a regular basis and is able to incorporate feedback into clinical performance.
Demonstrates effective communication methods and skills, using lines or authority appropriately.
Effectively assists with treatment planning and treatment review.
Effectively monitors all patients for evidence of danger to self or others and reports immediately to Registered Nurse.
Effectively remains flexible in responding to unit needs regarding schedules and resolution of staffing conflicts.
Keeps self informed of content of staff meetings, new policies, and other significant information.
Effectively performs other duties, as position requires.
