Payroll & Benefits Administrator - Fixed term contract

Reporting to the Corporate Human Resources Manager, the Payroll & Benefits Specialist is responsible for all payroll & benefits activities for the salaried, hourly and union employees of CMP Group Ltd across Canada and United States. Responsibilities

Payroll:

  • Process the salaried, hourly and union payrolls in an accurate and timely manner for employees across Canada and USA.
  • Process all payroll and benefit related remittances accurately and on time.
  • Process all expense reimbursements and commission payments through payroll.
  • Maintain on regular basis, the payroll platforms with employees information and updates. Process payroll Extra Runs as needed for Bonus/Lump Sum, and terminations payout.
  • Track and update bi-weekly, Banked Overtime; record on payroll platforms employees OT payment requested by employees, and payout with the last payroll of the year, any unused OT balance.
  • Prepare quarterly and year end filings for WCB BC & MB, WSIB.
  • Lead the completion of the year-end process, T4s issue (T4, T2200)
  • and annual returns with federal and provincial governments
  • Complete all Biweekly and monthly payroll journal entries and reconcile all payroll accounts.
  • Respond to employees payroll questions on regular basis

  • Reconcile all benefit related accounts monthly
  • Administer the company safety shoes and safety glasses programs.

Attendance management:

  • Prepare monthly attendance/late reports.
  • Maintain vacation records and balances for all employees. Monitor and track entitlement and accrual of vacation.
  • Provide to Senior Managers and Managers vacation balance reports for all employees, as requested.

Human resources:

  • Update metrics for monthly management meetings and quarterly town halls.
  • Conduct all new employee onboarding process as requested by the HR Manager Participate in human resources annual S.O.P. review.

General:

  • Coordinate in streamlining (improve and/or reduce) work processes, recommend and implement processes.
  • Assist the HR Manager to conduct the annual employee surveys, including setting them up online and assisting employees with their input.
  • Prepare companywide spreadsheets with payroll & benefit information for the budget process.
  • Miscellaneous duties including monitoring and reconciling garnishees and other deductions, maintenance of regular reports (i.e.. sick, vacation, seniority) and responding to queries
  • Provide ad hoc reports or information when required.
  • Promote safe work practices as outlined in the Worksafe B.C. regulations.
  • Submit Claims to WSIB/WCB for injuries and follow up as needed.
  • Ensure that up to date training records are maintained.
  • Follow up on all training reports and update Digital and Physical folders
  • Participate in quality audits as required.
  • Help out with social committee events
  • Participate in 1X1 meetings with HR Manager.
  • Coordinate with Team members to execute HR related tasks efficiently.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of payroll experience with salaried, hourly and union groups
  • 3 to 5 years of experience with investigating and resolving payroll issues
  • 3 to 5 years of experience coordinating benefits
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in attendance management
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a payroll & benefits administrator in the manufacturing industry or similar environment
  • Accounting knowledge to accurately do journal entries and payroll reconciliations
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles strongly preferred
  • PCP designation preferred
  • Experience working with an ERP system UKG is an asset
  • Strong computer skills, including advanced Excel
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, able to grasp new software easily, prioritize, multitask and meet deadlines
  • Driven, positive, outgoing personality, innate work ethic and attention to detail

Hours

  • 8:00 m – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday
  • In office position that will transition into hybrid after training
