Background

  • Works under direct to general supervision of the Area Manager in a GMP regulated manufacturing environment operating under Q7A standards.
  • Performs routine to complex line operations of dry and liquid chemicals to produce high purity specialty minerals. The work process involves steps that are repetitive to unique in character, requiring careful adherence to well-established instructions usually provided in operations manuals, as well as independent discretion and judgment on higher level lines.
  • This is a transitional JD, designated to new hired employees under training.

Tasks being develop on training

  • Production Process Activities
  1. Adjusts controls to regulate temperature, pressure, feed, and flow of dry and liquid chemicals, and times of prescribed reactions, according to knowledge of equipment and processes.
  2. Monitors gauges, recording instruments, or products to ensure that specified conditions are maintained.
  3. Inspects equipment or units to detect leaks and malfunctions, shutting equipment down if necessary.
  4. Cleans, assembles, and makes minor repairs to machinery and equipment using hand tools.
  • Quality Control Activities
  1. Draws samples of products at specified stages for analyses by others.
  2. Determines particle size, percent solids, or percent moisture as required by product specifications.
  • Unloading and Loading Activities
  1. Retrieves, measures, and adds raw materials to reaction tanks according to product specifications.
  2. Manages in-process hopper transfers.
  3. Palletizes finished packaged items or packs items in cartons or containers.
  4. Operates hand truck or fork lift.
  • Safety, Health and Environmental Activities
  1. Observes safety precautions to prevent accidents, fires and explosions.
  2. Participates in safety training and programming.
  • Record Keeping Duties
  1. Records operational data such as temperatures, pressures, ingredients used, processing times, or test results.
  2. Records amounts and lot numbers of raw materials on process manufacturing data records.

Specifications

  • Chemical mixing and blending production experience
  • Experienced Chemical Operator a must
  • Knowledge of:
  1. Mathematics and English comprehension (Basic level)
  2. Raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  3. Safety, health and environmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures
  • Skill in:
  1. Troubleshooting and product inspection
  2. Operation control and monitoring
  3. Equipment maintenance and light repair
  4. Management of material resources
  • Ability to:
  1. Work in extreme cold and hot (120 F) environment
  2. Comprehend oral and written English instruction
  3. Lift 55 pounds and drive fork truck in safe and efficient manner
  4. Follow established policies and procedures
  5. Operate and maintain chemical processing equipment
  6. Exhibit manual dexterity, perceptual speed and extent flexibility
  7. Adopt to rapidly changing priorities based on business needs
  8. Pass pre-employment physical with drug screen and physical capabilities test
  9. Climb, stand, and work at heights of up to 20 ft.
  10. Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling, able to walk, stand or crouch
  11. Stooping: Bending body downward and forward at the waist
  12. Able to push using upper extremities to press against with steady force
  13. Use upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects
  14. Able to reach and extend arms in any direction
