About this job

Civil Engineer with Arcadis U.S., Inc. (Fair Lawn, NJ) Perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures and facilities, such as roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors, channels, dams, irrigation projects, pipelines, power plants, and water and sewage systems. Provide support to the Arcadis design team in a variety of flood control projects, from the concept level planning to the preparation of detailed engineering designs and construction specifications. Prepares design calculations, portions of technical reports as well as the development of engineering plans and specifications for projects that may include levees, pump/lift stations floodwalls, gates, diversion canals, and stormwater and/or maintenance dredging projects. Conducts site visits and field surveys as necessary to assess field conditions. Works directly with a variety of engineering disciplines, office/project staff, client and sub-contractors, throughout the project life cycle. This position allows for remote work and reports to the company’s office in Fair Lawn, NJ. Requirements: Requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences, or related field. Position requires related experience (7 years with Bachelor’s or 5 years with Master’s), which must include some experience in each of the following skills: Seismic design including earthquake hazard evaluation, liquefaction assessment and site-specific ground response analysis; Earthquake engineering related software: EZ-FRISK, SHAKE, DEEPSOIL, CLiq and USGS earthquake hazard tools and programs; Planning, coordinating and executing subsurface investigations in support of geotechnical design and evaluation efforts including test boring inspections, site reconnaissance, and other means of data collection; Geotechnical evaluation of embankment dams, levees and flood mitigation structures including competent design experience with slope stability and seepage analysis programs, including Geo-Studio - SLOPE/W and SEEP/W; Design of shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, excavation support systems, and ground improvement techniques; Ensoft programs - APILE, LPILE, GROUP, SHAFT, TZPILE and Shoring Suite program; Stress-deformation analysis and settlement evaluation programs including SIGMA/W and Settle3; and Numerical analysis using Finite Element Method (FEM) in geotechnical modeling and design.
