Purpose of the Position

Provides reporting and analysis to support sales, marketing and operations decision-making for a business unit and drive bottom line performance.

Essential Position Responsibilities - This is a Salary Exempt position.

Responsible for the financial segment of Sales and Operations Planning. Creates and maintains rolling 24- month forecasts for a business unit. Responsible for the analysis and presentation of business unit results and forecasts to management and senior executives monthly. Works closely with supply, demand, plant operations, sales, and marketing teams to analyze sales plan and project costs down to the line item level. Supports budgeting for the purchasing unit, closely coordinating the development of all non-plant budgets.

Responsible for operations analysis. Works directly with plant controllers and plant operations managers analyzing daily costings, labor and overhead variances and plant spending. Develops reports and analyzes performance for a business unit. Develops, maintains and presents analytical insights based on trends, forecast and statistical models. Responsible for visualizing and analyzing data. Works directly with department or plant management to analyze key metrics. Helps develop appropriate or unique solutions to problems using research, analysis and creative problem solving. Develops extensive analytical and forecasting models for senior management, including “what if” scenario models.

Process owner for monthly and annual closing activities. Prepares and approves a variety of journal entries. Compiles balance sheet support backup.

Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Physical Activities: Enters and locates information on a computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print. Communicates with Customers, Vendors, or Employees via telephone, in person, and/or electronic mail.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): As required by visiting facilities.

Travel: None.

Technical Experience: 1 years accounting and/or financial analysis experience required. Experience in financial modeling, business analysis, General Ledger, and cost accounting preferred. Must have a strong background in Excel and ERP systems. Must demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills

Industry Experience: Preference for manufacturing or food processing organization.

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or related field, or 4 years related work experience.
