Staff Accountant Opening
Located in NEWARK, OH
Pay $50-60k

Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organizations assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities and other related financial activities.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Performs general accounting and other related duties for the organization.

  2. Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.

  3. Maintains the general ledger.

  4. Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.

  5. Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.

  6. Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to

    the appropriate accounts.

  7. Maintains the Fixed Asset system and associated depreciation schedules.

  8. Functions as a back-up to accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.

  9. Annual preparation and filing 1099 forms.

  10. Provides auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform

    annual audit.

  11. Files tax forms with state and local government agencies.

  12. Coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to

    enhance the accounting software.

  13. Maintains Canada accounting records including currency conversion.

  14. Maintains knowledge of acceptable account practices and procedures.

Other Functions and Responsibilities:

a. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting.

  • At least three years of related experience required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of general financial accounting financial statements.

  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and JD Edwards and Acumatica experience is a plus.
