Job Description

The Controller is expected to maintain an adequate system of accounting records, produce periodic financial reports, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. The Controller will be responsible for all accounting, month-end reporting and financial analysis.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

General Accounting/Reporting responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly account analysis and reconciliation for balance sheet accounts
  • Balance intercompany accounts at month end
  • Complete monthly cut-off procedures including accruals and other month-end close journal entries
  • Review and evaluate transactions including daily reconciliation and recording of cash transactions
  • Analyze general ledger accounts for accuracy and provide solutions to errors
  • Reconcile fixed asset records monthly including additions and disposal activity
  • Perform month-end close procedures in accordance with the established reporting timeline
  • Lead the monthly financial and operating review process by preparing presentation materials, providing detailed explanations for budget to actual variances/fluctuations, and providing thoughtful insight and recommendations to plant and company leadership
  • Drive the annual budget process, working closely with plant departments to develop a robust, supportable budget 

Additional responsibilities:

  • Report weekly KPIs through coordination with various departments within the company
  • Analyze labor and overhead allocations, review and update manufacturing absorption
  • Review scrap, supplier and customer adjustments
  • Track costs for customer owned tooling projects, capital projects and other projects
  • Prepare analysis as requested by management
  • Monthly analysis of manufacturing department cost
  • Support the annual financial statement audit
  • Coordinate the year-end inventory observation
  • Develop and implement process improvement initiatives to increase accuracy and efficiency
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc analysis as requested

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university required
  • Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • Extensive experience with ERP’s; Plex experience preferred but not required
  • At least 3 years of progressive accounting experience with a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP; Automotive experience preferred but not required
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues accurately and timely
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience working with large data sets
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel
