Mechanical Designer 1

Cyclonaire is currently looking for a Mechanical Designer to join our team.

The Mechanical Designer prepares the mechanical assembly, fabrication designs, and drawings for Cyclonaire equipment. The Mechanical Designer will work closely with Project Engineers and Project Managers on design assistance and approval. This position will handle multiple projects simultaneously. This role will be able to carry out its functions in accordance with Cyclonaire’s Core Values.

Essential Functions

• Creation of 3D Parts/Assemblies using SolidWorks 2021 and PDM Vault
• Models generally based on existing designs/models (variation of theme)
• Creation of top-level assembly drawings for customer approval/use
• Creation of individual production drawings, including laser flat patterns and weldment drawings
• Management of design work to ensure manufacturing deadlines can be met (drawings available in a timely manner)
• Work with Project Manager and the Project Engineer to ensure conformance with project requirements
• Work with Production to ensure conformance with fabrication techniques.
• Other duties as assigned

Competencies: A strong understanding of pneumatic circuits and mechanical design is required. Must have a professional personality and the ability to work as an effective team member. Must be able to work within existing design standards and guidelines. Strong knowledge of Mechanical Drafting principles and dimensioning methods is preferred. Problem-solving and critical thinking skills are required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required to communicate effectively. Must be able to work in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and Microsoft Teams. Experience with 2D CAD design, ACAD or equivalent, and 3D CAD design, preferably SolidWorks, is desired.

Education / Experience: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, or Computer-Aided Design Drafting or equivalent degree/experience is required. Familiarity with industrial equipment, manufacturing processes, metal fabrication, and design principles are desired.

Physical Demands: Sedentary position requiring extended periods of sitting. Talking, hearing, and repetitive motions are required. Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Work requires constant visual ability. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds independently.

Work Environment: Clean and climate-controlled office environment in a manufacturing facility.

Safety: Safety shoes (steel or composite toe), safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other forms of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required in designated areas.

Other Duties: Safe work performance is always required from each employee. Perform all duties and responsibilities in a safe manner in accordance with applicable Health and Safety Manuals.
