Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience in automotive material handling and/or manufacturing
  • Welding / fabrication experience required
  • Experience in fabrication and support manufacturing activities
  • Forklift license, training, and/or experience is a plus


Summary:

  • Assist with manufacturing products per daily production schedule, drawings, and customer order requirements. Attend program meetings, communicate between all internal departments, and work with all prototype team members to ensure customer deliveries are met.
  • Assist with daily picks for prototype builds via the pick sheets and provide pick bins to manufacturing locations within the prototype. Pull all pass through parts for outgoing shipping for all customer orders.
  • Build prototype components parts, tasks include fabrication, welding, etc, fabrication of products will be based on drawings, instructions/information given by using hand tools, machine tools, and welding equipment, as well as working with other departments. Must meet deadlines and have the ability to check his/her work.


Job Functions:

  • Collect and delegate parts for customer orders
  • Process incoming inventory parts: confirm part #, color, revision level, and count
  • Perform 1st and 2nd picks for all Prototype Manufacturing’s finished goods
  • Collect and delegate all materials for outside process vendors
  • Analyze daily production schedule including initiating and completing all necessary Kanban tags
  • Collect and deliver all Necessary materials and components for Trim/Sew Department
  • Assemble products daily per the production schedule
  • Travel to Customer and Plant locations to support Manufacturing Activity
  • Participate in new product launch meetings to ensure Customer requirements are met
  • Update and maintain work instructions to achieve customer requirements
  • Modify components to produce parts according to engineering drawings
  • Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
  • Fabricate and assemble metal structures and equipment through the use of welders, cutters, shapers and measuring tools
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements) Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
  • Align components using calipers, rulers and clamp pieces
  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead) Repair prototype components and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
  • Assemble products daily per production schedule
  • Travel to Customer and Plant locations to support Manufacturing Activity.
  • Participate in new product launch meetings to ensure Customer requirements are met.
  • Update and maintain work instructions to achieve customer requirements
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
  • Understands and follows safety & environmental regulations
  • Adheres to the Quality System and participates in continuous improvement
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job
  • Assures a clean work area


Qualifications/Requirements:


Education:

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Some college or technical school training/coursework is a plus.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in automotive material handling and/or manufacturing
  • 1-3 years of welding/ fabrication experience required
  • Experience in Mig and Tig welding
  • Fabrication and support manufacturing activities
  • Prototype welding/ fabrication is a plus
  • Forklift license, training, and/or experience is a plus

Personal/Technical Skills:

  • Basic understanding of the manufacturing processes relating to plastics, metals, foam, and textiles.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment (e.g., HiLo, Forklift, etc.).
  • Basic math and analytical skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, multicultural work environment.
  • Ability to function both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work effectively within time constraints and deadlines, and handle stressful situations.
  • Analytical skills, problem solving skills, and good judgment.
  • Ability to work more than eight hours a day or to work a holiday or weekend if needed.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with all levels of the organization.
  • Must demonstrate commitment, entrepreneurship, innovation, perseverance, professionalism, self-discipline, and teamwork skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, goal-oriented, quality-driven, and capable of working with minimum supervision.
  • Follow standard work instructions as assigned.
  • Follow safety guidelines, including proper use of PPE (personal protective equipment)
