Avera St. Luke’s Hospital is looking for a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our Team!

** This position may be eligible for a $10,000 sign on bonus with a 2 year commitment. 

** This position is eligible for Avera's Student Loan Repayment program which helps you pay off your student loans and save money.  Each month an extra payment of $167 (up to $10,000 from Avera will help pay down your principal balance faster.

Job Summary

  • Staff will be expected to work in the microbiology section primarily with plate reading and culture setup. 
  • Responsible for supplying inventory, quality control, reagent preparation, etc.
  • Initiate and follow through with corrective action as well as manages workflow.
  • Communicate laboratory data and pertinent technical information to appropriate departments, healthcare providers and individuals in both verbal and electronic means.
  • Participate in development of procedures, protocols, lab manuals, new instrumentation, lab CQI or other activities as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited two-year college program or technical school is required. 
  • Six months to one year of related experience or training is preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • Certification as Medical Laboratory Technician from the ASCP, AMT, or equivalent required within 12 months of hire.

Work Schedule

  • Day Shifts; 72hours 2 weeks
    • 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, 9:30 am - 6:00 pm
    • Every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation

Pay

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

  • $22.00 - $31.75 per hour
