Work Location: Butte MT Preferred (Location negotiable within Montana Service Territory)

Pay range: $62,900 to $135,200

About this position:

The Engineer will be part of a dynamic team focused on engineering and project development supporting long-range transmission capacity plans across the company's service territory. The Engineer will develop creative plans and solutions to support engineering design for electric transmission expansion projects, rebuilds, and other new business developments across the company's service territory. The engineer will perform effective design, analysis and budgeting of multiple exciting projects and initiatives and coordinate with other functional groups to meet expected outcomes and strategic direction for electric transmission capacity projects.

About this job:

  • Engineer will develop preliminary engineering plans and designs to support NorthWestern Energy's electric transmission capacity objectives.
  • Perform engineering and economic analysis of multiple transmission development projects
  • Compile and write technical reports and estimates and development of project budgets
  • Develop & coordinate projects up to 500kV
  • Perform computer related functions such as engineering analysis, design, drawings, spreadsheets and database compilations
  • Assist in customer and land owner field investigations and transmission siting activities
  • Job time is spent in office and field environment with exposure to all field hazards and weather
  • Occasional lifting of materials up to 35 pounds required
  • Travel up to 20% and extended overnight hours will be required

Am I right for this job? Here's the success profile:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required
  • E. or ability to obtain P.E. desired
  • Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
  • Must possess strong computer, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in electric transmission or substation engineering and construction desired
  • Knowledge in Project Development and Project Management principles and fundamentals desired
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple conflicting tasks and demands
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently
  • Must have a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
