Job Summary

Join our team as a Continuous Improvement Lean Manufacturing Intern and make a significant impact on our organization by implementing the 5S methodology across various manufacturing operations. In this hands-on role, you will play a pivotal part in enhancing efficiency and productivity in our manufacturing departments. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to engage in other lean manufacturing tasks and data analysis projects, contributing to our continuous improvement efforts.

Internship Duration and Schedule: 5/20/2024-8/9/2024, Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

Job Responsibilities

  • Implement 5S: Work closely with manufacturing teams to implement the 5S methodology, ensuring that workplace organization and standardization are maintained.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Assist in various lean manufacturing initiatives, supporting process optimization, waste reduction, and workflow efficiency.
  • Data Analysis: Participate in data analysis projects aimed at identifying areas for improvement and making data-driven recommendations.
  • Hands-On Role: Collaborate with manufacturing teams to physically organize workspaces, create visual management systems, and sustain the 5S principles.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with multiple manufacturing departments, fostering an understanding of diverse processes and challenges.
  • Project Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and presentations upon completing each 5S implementation or other continuous improvement projects. Share findings and recommendations with key stakeholders.
  • Safety: Must work with the EHS department to ensure all local, state, and federal regulatory agencies requirements are met; OSHA, NFPA, DNR, EPA and Amphenol sustainability practices.
  • Quality Assurance: Must work with the Quality department to ensure all quality standards are met for AS9100 certification.

Requirements

Education:

  • Must be pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.

Physical:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, reach, and reach overhead.
  • Must be able to lift to 25lbs occasionally.

Knowledge:

Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

Engineering and Technology - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.

Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.

Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
