Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative (SSVEC) is a cooperative delivering safe and reliable electric service through people who provide exceptional support to our member-owners and the communities we serve. SSVEC is a not for profit, member‐owned distribution cooperative providing electricity to more than 60,000 services over some 4,100 miles of energized line. Located in southeastern Arizona. SSVEC is dedicated to community growth, quality of life, and a positive vision for the future.

Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative is seeking a qualified applicant to fill the position of Foreman II at our Fort Huachuca location in Southern Arizona. The Foreman II directs all phases of construction and maintenance of underground and overhead distribution and transmission lines, including substations. The Foreman II must have knowledge of the location and operation of all substations. The Foreman II supervises a crew of Journeyman and Apprentice Line Workers.

The essential functions listed below are general examples and not a complete description of comprehensive duties:

  • Keeps constantly informed as to the direction of the line feeds, location of reclosing and switching devices. Responds to outages during storms, or large-scale emergencies. Ensures that personnel know whether conductor is energized or de-energized. Issues or receives clearance to energize or de-energize lines. Assists with the set-up of mobile substation as needed during emergencies or scheduled maintenance.
  • Performs and gathers information regarding power quality problems and relays information to Engineering for analysis and performs requested work to solve the problem.
  • Supervises work crews and inspects their completed work to ensure it is built according to specifications and is in compliance with all safety procedures and rules; sees that job locations are left in a neat and safe condition following the completion of the work.
  • Provides training and supervision for members of the crew. Helps coordinate with other crews any additional training for Apprentices. May on occasion, supervise multiple crews during large, multi-crew jobs.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED and successful completion of Journeyman Lineman Apprenticeship, plus a minimum of five (5) years direct work experience as a Journeyman Lineman. Must be familiar with RUS Material Specifications, the National Electrical Safety Code and SSVEC's Service Rules and Regulations.
  • Forklift Operator, Flagger, and Climbing certifications required. CPR and First Aid certified.
  • Valid Arizona CDL is required.
