Position Overview: As a Botanist at The Flower Tower, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our knowledge of plant species, promoting conservation efforts, and contributing to the overall health and vitality of our botanical collection. From conducting research and identifying plant species to developing cultivation techniques and providing expert advice, you'll be at the forefront of our botanical endeavors.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct research on plant taxonomy, physiology, ecology, and genetics to enhance our understanding of plant life and inform our cultivation practices.
  2. Identify and classify plant species within our botanical collection, utilizing taxonomic keys, morphological characteristics, and molecular techniques.
  3. Collaborate with the greenhouse team to develop and implement cultivation protocols, including propagation methods, soil composition, and irrigation strategies.
  4. Monitor plant health and growth patterns, conducting regular inspections and diagnostic assessments to identify and address any issues.
  5. Collect and analyze data on plant growth, development, and environmental requirements, using statistical methods and software tools to derive meaningful insights.
  6. Assist with plant conservation efforts, including seed banking, rare species preservation, and habitat restoration initiatives.
  7. Provide expert advice and guidance to staff and customers on plant selection, care techniques, and sustainable gardening practices.

Qualifications:

  1. Degree in botany, plant biology, horticulture, or a related field, with a strong academic background in plant science and ecology.
  2. Previous experience conducting botanical research, fieldwork, or plant identification preferred.
  3. Knowledge of plant taxonomy, anatomy, physiology, and ecological principles, with an ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical applications.
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret scientific data effectively.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to convey complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
  6. Proficiency in botanical research methods, laboratory techniques, and data analysis software.
  7. Enthusiasm for plants and a commitment to promoting environmental conservation and sustainability.
