IT Specialist

Creature is an integrated design build firm based in Birmingham, AL. Our focus is on developing a differentiated delivery platform for healthcare construction. We are a leader in delivery of health care facilities utilizing the Design, Manufacture, Construct (DMC) methodology. DMC replaces the century-old, siloed approach of the Architecture Engineering and Construction Industry. A major component of our platform is our ability to standardize and automate work flows in the construction industry. 


Job Description:

At Creature, the IT Specialist plays a pivotal role in aligning our technology function with the company's strategic direction. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), this solo role encompasses managing IT projects from start to finish, contributing to strategic planning, and executing in collaboration with the CTO. Initially working independently, this position is crucial in shaping the technology landscape of Creature, with the potential for team growth and leadership as the department expands.


You must be able to seamlessly transition between working in the weeds and working on the strategy from one meeting to the next.


Role Expectations:

  • Daily Breakfix Task: Ensuring that the companies current and future technologies work on a daily basis and if there is a user issue, working to correct it as rapidly as possible. 
  • Technology Implementation and Integration: Oversee the implementation and integration of new technologies, aligning them with strategic goals and existing systems.
  • Resource Management and Decision-Making: Effectively manage resources and budgets as a one-person team, making key decisions for project success.
  • Training, Change Management, and Quality Assurance: Develop training programs, manage change effectively, and ensure high standards of quality and compliance in project deliverables.
  • Independent Project Management: Autonomously manage all phases of IT projects, serving as the single point of contact for project-related issues.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Liaise with senior leadership and various departments, ensuring IT initiatives support business goals, and communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Strategic Alignment with Technology Function: Collaborate closely with the CTO to align IT projects with Creature’s strategic objectives and contribute to the development of the technology strategy.


Qualifications/Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience with IT systems integration and project management.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as Procore, BOX, Slack, Smartsheets, Sage, Revit. 
  • Demonstrated ability in managing budgets and IT resources.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Experience in developing and delivering IT training programs.
  • Knowledge of change management processes and quality assurance protocols.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution within an IT environment.
  • Understanding of the latest technology trends and how they can be leveraged to support business goals.
  • Skills in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating IT-related risks.
  • Familiarity with risk management frameworks and tools.
  • Ability to work independently as a one-person team.
