Camp Cormorant - Camp Counselor in Training (CIT)

For over 100 years, YMCA Camp Cormorant has offered spirit, tradition, leadership, and exceptional facilities to campers. Founded in 1903, Camp Cormorant is one of the oldest overnight camps in the entire nation. The camp is nestled on 80 acres of wooded property with an extensive beachfront on Big Cormorant Lake. We are located approximately six miles south of Lake Park, MN, in the heart of Minnesota lakes country.

The YMCA Camp Cormorant offers more than just a typical camp experience - we offer the chance to make a lasting difference for the youth in our community. As a CIT at Camp Cormorant, you will help Camp Counselors guide campers in their personal growth and daily living skills. No day at camp is just a typical day!

CIT Daily Duties:

• Dining Hall: Clean up after meals and other cleaning duties as assigned: bathrooms, dishes, loading/unloading/stocking groceries
• Sessions: Help in the specialty camp assigned to, help with the low ropes course, help with day campers
• Rest Hour: Never be alone with campers
• Open Rec: Rotate areas of basketball, gaga, waterfront, and rec hall
• Evening Program & Campfire: Participate in games and activities and campfire songs
• Bed: Help campers get ready for bed (brush hair, clean up luggage, collect campers' belongings)
• Lights Out: Stay in the cabin with a counselor to assist in settling children

2024 Camp Schedule:

• June 3-7 - Training
• June 9-14 - Week One (All Staff)
• June 16-21 - Week Two (All Staff)
• June 23-28 - Kamp KACE (No Cabin Counselors, Junior Counselors, or CITs)
• July 1-5 - OFF
• July 7-12 - Week Three (All Staff)
• July 14-19 - Week Four (All Staff)
• July 21-26 - Week Five (All Staff)
• July 28-Aug 2 - Week Six (All Staff)
• August 2-4 - Family Camp Weekend (Select Staff)
• August 4-9 - Week Seven (All Staff)
• August 11-16 - Week Eight (All Staff)

CIT Requirements:

• Must be at least 15 years old
