SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of tasks to support the operations of the Senior Services warehouse to deliver meals to senior nutrition sites and home-bound frail elderly.

This includes but is not limited to: driving a company vehicle to deliver meals, shipping and receiving, general warehouse operations, community outreach, client / customer management, and other tasks as needed.

Incumbents in this position work with greater independence of action and perform duties such as recruitment and training of volunteers to help support overall department operations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Duties will be in a supportive and assistive capacity in the following areas:

  • Adhere to Senior Services guidelines- CSET Operation of Vehicles Policy to maintain discipline and ensure safety.
  • Participate in trainings to develop skills and techniques for working with seniors.
  • Completes and files paperwork to refer seniors for services/follow-up.
  • Communicate requests, complaints and inquiries from partners and the public; respond appropriately to emergency situations and provide crowd control and evacuation if needed.
  • Recruits, selects, and trains volunteers in food handling and delivering meals and serving and assisting senior citizens in various activities, including personal affairs and care.
  • Performs outreach activities to encourage senior citizens to begin, increase, or continue participation in center activities.
  • Handle the collection, counting, and deposit of monies.
  • Prepares necessary records and reports, collects data, performs clerical duties, and is proficient in use of computer.
  • Knowledge of CSET services to assist with program awareness, complete program intake application, and ability to collaborate and refer with other service providers when needed.
  • Maintain inventory and records of consumable supplies, materials, daily meal attendance, and participant records.
  • Ensure state regulation compliance of quantity, quality and conditions of sanitation in the delivery of meals.
  • Transport food containers to senior home and or senior center facilities.
  • Pick up and deliver supplies and correspondence.
  • Schedule and conduct in-home visits for assessments of clients for senior programs.
  • Perform daily maintenance and cleaning as related to food service.
  • Complete vehicle check list to ensure against mechanical deficiencies, schedule motor vehicle servicing, keep assigned vehicle neat and clean, report unusual wear and tear, and/or operational problems to supervisor.
  • Check and test equipment after routine maintenance to observe possible equipment failure and ensure safe operations.
  • Assist in serving meals.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position reports to the assigned Department Director or designee and does not supervise.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Equivalent to completion of 12th grade.
  • Two years related experience and/or training working with seniors.
  • Currently certified or ability to obtain California Food Handler Card
  • Any combination of education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
  • Knowledge and experience of warehouse operations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Possession of Class C License with clean driving record

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee will primarily be working in an outdoor setting and in an enclosed vehicle and exposed to the seasonal weather conditions. Perform duties in an enclosed vehicle, at senior sites, and at home deliveries and must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and/or move up to 75 pounds.

PUBLIC JOB DESC

CSET is looking for an individual to provide transportation and service of prepared meals for its Meals on Wheels Program. Individual will also provide assistance in performing community outreach and other senior activities. Must be willing to travel county wide. Bilingual public speaking skills in English and Spanish is a plus. Requires Class C driver's license with driving experience and/or training working with seniors and ability to obtain California Food Handler Card. Position is full-time working a maximum 40 hours per week.
