A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PART-TIME EXTENDED LEARNING PROGRAM (ELP) SITE LEAD

As an (ELP) Site Lead, you help ensure a safe environment for students during the after-school hours by providing quality academic and enrichment activities through after-school programming. Your ultimate responsibility is to create a safe, enriching ELP environment for both students and staff. You review and approve lesson plans as well as purchase and prepare supplies as needed. Providing supervision during program hours, you ensure that activities are engaging, age-appropriate, and comply with CYM and ASES standards. You also make sure that student to staff ratios don't exceed an average of 20:1. Under your excellent leadership, ELP staff are inspired to be invested in their work. You observe them and offer critiques in a way that is motivating. You conduct regular inspiring staff meetings that include professional development training.

Attentive to detail, you keep accurate and up-to-date records, including discipline issues, safety issues, student enrollment, snacks, attendance, and meeting minutes. You are proactive and always looking for ways to improve. With the goal of a "zero" end balance, you develop a budget and ensure that spending is kept within its parameters. You continually promote our program and recruit students to maintain sustainability. Your job is highly collaborative. You cultivate relationships with parents, school staff, CYM staff, and applicable granting agencies. Your supportive and upbeat energy helps students and staff alike feel confident and capable. As a role model, you set a good example at all times. You feel great about igniting the light within each student by providing them with opportunities to reach their full potential, in order to create stronger students, stronger families, and stronger communities!
