Position Details:
Paramedic
12-hour shifts, 48/96 schedule, available for nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, as needed.


Position Summary:
Provide pre-hospital care and transportation of ill or injured persons to a medical facility. Operate emergency medical vehicles in a safe and responsible manner. Perform duties related to readiness, performance improvement and safety.

Requirements

Education:
Associate degree or higher.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Possession of a current EMT P License issued by the State of Oregon
  • Current CPR at the AHA Healthcare or BLS Provider Level or Equivalent (including didactic, skill performance and evaluation).
  • Maintain current ACLS & PALS certifications. Must have or be willing to obtain NRP certification.
  • Current government ID (Driver's License, Military ID, or Passport).
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record.

Experience:

3 years previous experience, preferred.

Job Knowledge:
General knowledge of security and safety within healthcare setting.

Skills:
Must be able to understand and follow confidentiality rules and regulations of the Health District.

Essential Functions:

  • Operate specialty equipped emergency medical vehicles in a safe manner.
  • Provide professional service and direction to patients and families while in emergency services care.
  • Perform regular inspections of ambulance and equipment for cleanliness, security and functionality.
  • Maintain emergency services inventory.
  • Complete logs checklists and duty related reports, as required.
  • Provide additional personnel presence in the Emergency Department as requested by medical staff to maintain patient care and safety. De-escalation of tense situations as necessary.
  • Provide necessary assistance during a mass casualty or other event which may bring numerous patients and non-patients to the hospital.
  • Respond to emergency medical calls and inter-facility transfers and provide care for ill or injured patients following prescribed life support protocols.
  • Perform patient care per scope of practice and approved protocols.
  • Monitor communications equipment to maintain contact with dispatcher/facility.
  • Communicate with professional medical personnel at emergency treatment facility to obtain instructions regarding further treatment and to arrange for reception of victim(s) at treatment facility.
  • Remove or assist in extrication of victim.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions to provide emergency medical services.
