GENERAL SUMMARY:

The primary role of the Wellness Coordinator is to provide leadership, organization, and direction for the Residential Wellness Clinic, as well as support the Mental Health Clinic with client nursing assessments, follow-up, and appropriate communication, to ensure excellent service and required documentation. The Wellness Coordinator works to develop and implement programs to support physical health and quality care for campus residents, provided in compliance with Morningstar policies, as well as current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern residential care and counseling services.

VI. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES / OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Serve as Lead for Residential Wellness Clinic Team

· Leadership – Develop work assignments and schedules to ensure sufficient medical coverage every day. Ensure all medical staff are scheduled for required training. Participate in developing and updating policies, procedures, and service objectives in the medical area. Provide motivation and encouragement to the team, as well as corrective action for staff members that may not be performing appropriately. Participate in various leadership meetings on campus, as requested.

· Resident Admission – Participate in review of potential residents and ensure a smooth admission process for new residents in all medical areas.

· Health Programming – Takes a lead in developing and implementing structured programs to support the many physical needs of campus residents.

· Resident Basic Care – Provide care and medical services to residents as required and assist in campus medical coverage.

· Medicine Storage – Participate in the updating and implementation of written policies and procedures for the administration, storage, and control of medications and supplies. Supervise the ordering of medications and supplies, safe storage of medications, removal of expired or discontinued medications and keeping medication storage area clean and neat. Perform routine audits of new medication packs and collaborate with pharmacy on remedying any issues.

· Outside Medical Services – Ensure appointments are set, as needed and required, to meet the health requirements for all residents. Identify specialists and additional service providers. Build relationships with local specialist providers.

· Medication and Service Documentation – Ensure all local, state, and federal, well checks and appointments are scheduled, attended, and correctly documented. Perform routine medication and paperwork audits to ensure safety and compliance with all requirements.

2. Provide Nursing Service Support for Mental Health Program

· Complete initial nursing assessments to all ASAM Level .05 and Level 1 prior to first group for DATEP clients and as indicated for mental health clinic clients.

· Screen for TB, RPR, HIV, alcohol and drugs, obtain a comprehensive medical history, allergies, and current medications with consumer consent as appropriate for clients in the DATEP program.

· Provide ongoing nursing assessments as ordered by physician and outlined in client’s Individualized Resiliency Plan.

· Provide appropriate follow-up by providing the client with results ad referrals for counseling/medical intervention when appropriate.

· Comply with State reporting requirements for communicable diseases.

· Maintain appropriate written consent and medical documents within the client medical chart.

· Obtain appropriate Authorization for Release of Information in compliance with the HIPAA/CFR 42 Federal Guidelines.

· Administer and record drug/alcohol screens and communicate results with counselors on duty.

· Provide additional support to Mental Health Clinic as assigned.

V. OTHER REQUIREMENTS

· Act as a positive role model for clients and staff.

· Complete the training requirements for this position.

· Be a contributing team player.

VI. EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

A. Nursing degree from an accredited college or university. Current Georgia license at the RN or LPN level.

B. Two years supervisory experience, preferred.

C. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age.

D. Must meet and maintain educational requirements as required for ongoing licensure.

E. Must be approved through Georgia Criminal Records Check.

VII. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical demand and work environment are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reaching with hands and arms. Ability to push, pull, lift, and or carry up to 20lbs. This position requires moderate to intense visual concentration, reading, and computer use. This position has daily contact with MCFS staff, residents, clients, and vendor/suppliers, requiring excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and a professional demeanor. Work may be performed outside or inside. Work hours may vary to meet the needs of the organization.
