DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

Schaefer's Cutting Department uses industry-leading fiber laser technology to process sheet metal for electrical enclosure fabrication. The advanced cutting technology allows for high volume versatility and product complexity to achieve Schaefer's signature customization. The Cutting Department's skilled workers work as a cohesive team to maintain production for all fabrication operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Select and load material for processing from high-density storage racking using safe forklift operation.
  • Adjust laser fixtures, assist gas and CNC controls according to job specific requirements.
  • Upload program files making adjustments using basic programming knowledge as necessary.
  • Operation laser monitor to ensure cut quality and equipment performance.
  • Read and interpret production drawings and other engineering aids.
  • Use precision measurement tools to check for dimensional part accuracy.
  • Perform standard kitting and delivery of all parts to downstream departments while maintaining machine uptime.
  • Make routine decisions and use analytical strategies to solve nonconformance issues.
  • Perform assigned work within time standards and quality expectations.
  • Account for time and work completed through labor reporting system.
  • Report and document basic material, production, and quality control issues.
  • Conduct and document operator preventative maintenance as scheduled.
  • Report and document equipment malfunction to the Maintenance Department and direct supervisor.
  • Work over-time, as needed, to meet departmental production demands.

EXPERIENCE:

  • CNC Laser Operator: 1 year
  • Manufacturing experience: 1 year

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of materials weighing up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
