Salary:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential –
- Teach effectively the approved simulation/skills lab curriculum to prepare students to become practical nurses.
- Participate in planning and organizing nursing curriculum as defined by the Kansas State Board of Nursing and/or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
- Create and maintain a positive educational climate designed to enhance learning and motivation.
- Utilize appropriate teaching methodologies and instructional materials to meet student’s needs and abilities.
- Participate in continuous evaluation of nursing preparation program and attend required, pertinent activities of faculty, advisory committee, and the community college.
- Assume responsibility for organizing and implementing assigned clinical experiences in collaboration with program coordinator and cooperating agencies.
- Document and evaluate student progress; provide feedback and academic counseling as necessary to promote successful learning.
- Maintain requirements of accrediting and cooperating agencies and parent organizations.
- Prepare the laboratory for clinical simulation, skills and evaluations.
- Maintain simulation models, inventory equipment, and request repairs.
- Coordinate cleaning, organizing, and maintenance of nursing laboratories.
- Tutor students in all areas of the curriculum.
- Track skills lab and simulation supplies, ordering supplies and organizing the supply room.
- Assist nursing students in a simulation setting in the practice of previously taught theory based clinical nursing skills.
- Maintain current clinical lab skills.
- Pursue professional development through classes, workshops, etc.
- Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
- Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures and practices.
Secondary –
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Coordinator(s).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of an earned BSN required, progress towards MSN preferred.
- Current unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the state of Kansas.
- Minimum of two years clinical nursing experience required.
- Certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation required.
- The ability to work effectively with students, staff, faculty and others.
- Preferred physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, walk, bend, stoop, reach, push/pull, carry, etc. Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills; excellent organizational skills; ability and willingness to collaborate; ability to work independently; Use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; Light to moderate, indoor work environment.

SALARY and STATUS:
The salary is commensurate with qualifications as determined by HutchCC administration. This full-time administrative staff position is 12 months annual, benefit eligible, at-will, and exempt.
