Job Description

Position Overview

The Budget Analyst assists in financial forecasting, planning, budgeting and modeling. The position calculates monthly sales representative commission and assists in state sales tax reporting. The Budget Analyst reviews budget variances and provides analysis to management. The position may also reconcile bank statements and process transactions.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Data entry into computer spreadsheets, ledgers, worksheets and other forms
  • Run reports, complete forms and prepare financial information for management
  • File state sales tax returns
  • Maintain fiscal records by reviewing payroll information, purchase requisitions, vouchers, receipts and other documents
  • Assist in the sales forecast process
  • Examine the organization's overall sales numbers and compare to the expected expenditures & recurring operating costs to identify potential cash flow issues
  • Calculate monthly sales commission
  • Prepare program cost analysis and periodic budget and financial presentations and reports; provide information on current and projected financial performance, irregularities and budget shortfalls
  • Review transactions for documentation of obligation, payment authorization, timely payment, and accurate recording
  • Reconcile accounts to records, and extract and compile information from records as required
  • Meet directly with department managers to provide advice on developing and maintaining a budget, gives guidance on how each department's budget fits into the organization's financial plans
  • Compare budgets and expenditures throughout any given period in order to identify and eliminate variances
  • Summarize budget recommendations for management to reduce expenditures to better manage and allocate incoming funds
  • Compare data contained in a variety of financial records in order to detect errors and discrepancies
  • Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
  • Interact and communicate with employees and customers in an appropriate manner.
  • Availability on site to confer with staff members with whom the employee must interact on a regular basis.
  • Communicate via email, prepare reports and work schedules.
  • Review and analyze data and information concerning Quaker's financial position.
  • Plan, prioritize and monitor the financial audit process.
  • Complete assigned tasks/projects in a timely manner.

Supervisory Responsibility

No direct management or supervisory responsibilities.


Safety

Observe safety and security policies and procedures, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment including but not limited to eye and toe protection; report potentially unsafe conditions; and use equipment and materials properly.


Travel

Approximately < 5% travel is required for commuting between the Quaker campuses or for professional development such as educational workshops.


Qualifications

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, Outlook

Preferred Education and Experience

The expectation is that the individual has achieved a minimum level of education and/or related expertise to qualify for this position.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Work Environment

The employee will be in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, if the employee needs to visit the factory, they may be exposed to climactic variations, various levels of vibration, or moving mechanical parts.
