Transportation Specialist Job Description:


Position Summary:

The Transportation Specialist works within the Intake department for the Scioto County campus while reporting directly to the Intake Manager.


General Responsibilities:

  • Know and adhere to STAR’s policies and procedures
  • Coordinate with all other departments as needed
  • Conduct transports for intakes, discharges, transitional living, and medical appointments
  • Ensure all intake supplies are stocked, stored, and prepared for distribution to the new intakes
  • Maintain resident photos on the server
  • Print handbooks, amendments, and other intake paperwork
  • Clean and disinfect the intake area and Administration area
  • Ensure transport vehicles are maintained and serviceable
  • Inventory restraints
  • Complete all required training
  • Process and search incoming resident property
  • Conduct searches, urinalysis, and B.A.C. tests

 


Performance Evaluation:

Staff holding this position will be evaluated on the following intervals of employment: 90th day, 6 month, 1 year, and annually thereafter. The following domains will be assessed:

  • Administrative Skills: Knowledge and Adherence to Policies and Procedures, Time Management, Organization, Technology Skills, Documentation, Communication Skills
  • Work Ethic: Attendance, Initiative, Dependability, Dealing with Demanding Situations, Role Modeling, Team Player, Professional Development
  • Position Skills: Transportation Safety & Security, Observation & Supervision of Residents, Use of Redirection Techniques & Behavioral Reinforcements.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School diploma
  • A strong background with two years in the field of corrections preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
